These experiences brought him to investigate his connection to Judaism and to travel a long road of discovery. To make this journey easier for others, Rabbi Begon established Machon Meir in Jerusalem shortly after the end of the Yom Kippur War, in 1973. Thousands of individuals have learned here since.
 Rabbi Dov Begon, founder and head of Machon Meir, was raised on a nonreligious kibbutz and fought as an officer in Jerusalem during the Six-Day War.
